Description

Vetramil is honey-based ointment with fats and herbs.  The ointment softens and protects dry skin. The ointment is wonderful when used on small wounds where it contributes to rapid healing.

Vetramil contains honey with a very high enzyme content.  These enzymes have a bacteria-inhibiting effect by producing hydrogen peroxide and gluconic acid (low pH).  Essential oils stimulate the build-up of broken skin by providing a moist environment.

  • Anti-bacterial
  • Softening
  • Bitter taste
  • Repelling insects

It's a good thing, but unfortunately it doesn't taste bad enough...

The ointment appears to cause wounds to heal well and moisturizes so that the wound crust does not burst. I've applied it to both wood pad wounds and wounds otherwise on the dog body. Smells good of honey does so. Unfortunately, it does not appear that it tastes bad, as both my dogs quickly lick on the wound if there is ointment there.

Note that the ointment has a shelf life of only 3 months upon opening. Size 10 g is therefore very handsome if it is only a case of small wounds.
